Having known Des Harris personally for many years, I have come to know of his knowledge and expertise when dealing with Koi health concerns.
Des has a wide, varied and great working knowledge of diagnosing both the common and uncommon koi health problems together with how to treat them. He performs most treatments and minor surgical procedures with due care and diligence. Des further appreciates that what you see on the surface, what’s immediately apparent, is not always the root cause. He has the knowledge and tenacity to investigate the problem thoroughly.
He can advise on koi care and more importantly pond maintenance which as we all know goes hand in hand in keeping koi healthy and looking at their best
Des also has a good working knowledge of quarantine procedures, having run a quarantine of his own for treating and growing on koi for most of the time I have known him, so it’s very much something close to his heart. You also have the advantage of a team as Desmond’s son Greg is also a koi health specialist so when extra hands are needed they are readily available.
Of course there will always be the odd problem for which a cure is either too late or ineffective, but rest assured Des will leave no stone unturned to resolve your issue.
In short, if you are experiencing any koi health issues, need good sound solid advice either on keeping koi, setting up your pond or simply need someone to watch over your koi whilst away on holiday, you could not be in better hands.
You can rest assured your Koi will be a lot safer and shine under Desmonds care.

Thanks for your very comprehensive overview of the world of the koi carp and running of the pond. It was really helpful.
I gave them some prawns the other day which they really enjoyed, but they didn’t seem so keen on the orange!
(I moved into a new home in Broadstairs, Kent on Tuesday and inherited some lovely koi and am a complete novice.)

Thanks so much for your time and expertise when you came over, it was great to learn a lot from you.
The two Koi you treated seem to be doing well. The one with the large ulcer wound looks clean. One ever so slightly red-ish bit, but I feel that may just be incidental, I'm keeping a close eye on it and will bring him to the edge in the net later today to have a close up look.
I'm due to do a 10% water change today and have bought de-clorinator as suggested.
I have started reading the book which gives many great insights and I plan to buy a microscope soon too.
Thank you! I’ll be in touch with any future needs for sure.
